Fiction with a twist

Welcome to the Fiction with a twist pilot blog for Stage 3. It runs for 5 weeks and targets gifted readers and writers. It is hosted by the NSW DET School Libraries and Information Literacy Unit and moderated  by teacher, Elizabeth Chase, from the Unit. A moderated blog means that every comment is checked before it is posted. This blog has been approved by the NSW Department of Education and Training for use by Stage 3 students in Term 4, 2009.

The student writing on this blog will provide examples and inspiration for students undertaking the Fiction with a twist School Libraries rap in Term 1, 2010.  To see an example of a School Libraries book rap, visit Bear and Chook books rap, click across the tabs at the top [Rap point 1 etc], then scroll down to read the Comments by schools.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FICTION WITH A TWIST

When you go into each page, click on Comments to post your blog messages.

There are 3 blog tasks to do each week:

1. My world – share your ideas each week

2. World of meaning -  learn about how authors build atmosphere and write your own short pieces of fiction. Complete weekly tasks: Voice, Actions, Symbols, Power, Visuals.

3. Story thread -  write a story in five chapters over 5 weeks

4. Story world – design and share inspiring and atmospheric creations using free digital tools – the Story world strand is optional. NB A number of these tools require your teacher or parent/guardian to log in first for you, BEFORE you can create with them…
